2009 Adult Mainstage Season
Only part of the 2009 mainstage listing survives. It features the autumn production of Jack Popplewell's mystery comedy Busybody, directed by Jim Mikula, together with its full cast. Busybody is a classic whodunit played for laughs: an office cleaner finds a body that promptly vanishes, and she then tells the police how to run the investigation. Comedies of this kind were a staple of Apple Hill's autumn slot, when audiences returned after the summer musicals. The rest of the 2009 story can be traced through the 2009 children's season and the audition notices in the auditions archive.

This hilarious play centers on a voluble cleaning woman who lives in the basement of the office building she services. Discovering a dead body, she calls in the police. When they arrive, the body has disappeared, and her discovery is chalked up to her imagination. When an unidentified body is discovered on a distant hill the investigation resumes with the cleaning woman telling the cops how to do their job. Is the company owner staging his own murder? Or did he kill his wife’s lover? Is the lover a firm employee or someone else? Where do the two female assistants fit in? What is the wife withholding? A thousand laughs result. 8PM October 1, 2, 3; 9, 10; 15, 16, 17 |
