Youth Auditions for Johnny Appleseed Children's Theatre

Auditions will be held at Apple Hill Playhouse on Saturday, May 7 from 9:30 AM - 3 PM at Apple Hill Playhouse

All ages are encouraged to auditions for JACT shows!

Requirements:
All auditionees will perform cold readings from the scripts being auditioned and will need to sing.
Please prepare 16 - 32 bars of a song that demonstrates the best of your abilites. Bring sheet music in the appropriate key; an accompanist will be provided.
A headshot and resume is preferred, but not mandatory. School photos or snap shots are perfectly acceptable.
Youngsters under age 10 must be able to read well and speak loudly.

BEAUTY & THE LONELY BEAST
Isadora Plum - A reasonably competent Fairy Godmother, but she has seen better days. Possible Accents. Female 18+, Should be able to roller skate or do some type of gymnastics.
Agnes Merryweather - Beauty’s older sister; tall, thin, and extremely vain. She carries a small hand mirror everywhere just to look at herself…or hit her sister with. Very over dramatic. Female 18+
Sue Merryweather - Beauty’s younger sister; short and plump. She either is pouting and whining or full of excitement. She carries marshmallows which she either stuffs in her face or throws at her sister. 14+ Female
Beauty Merryweather - The typical fairy tale princess. Caring and loving, if at times all too eager. Female 16+
Mr. Merryweather - The girl’s father. A very poor merchant. Most times distraught or confused, if not high strung. Male 18+
Beast - A large ugly creature with a heart of gold and terrible manners. His only friend is Isadora. Male 16+, very physical role, should be able to move well and growl.
Please prepare 32 bars of a song that demonstrates the best of your vocal abilities. Rehearsal will begin on May 16 and work primarily on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule.

Glinda The good witch of the North –bubbly, happy personality
Dorothy Our girl from Kansas – sweet, naïve
Scarecrow Needs a brain – must be flexible
Lion Needs Courage – must be flexible
Tin Man Needs a heart – and Oil
Wicked Witch of the West Sarcastic sense of humor needed, looking for a true witchy character
Wizard A nice man, but a little weird
Tornado A dance feature
Songs will be director’s choice.
Prepare 32 bars of music from an up-tempo musical
There will be a mandatory tech rehearsal\final dress the morning of July 4th. If you would not be able to attend, please do not audition for this show.

SNOW WHITE & THE SEVEN DWARFS
Cat - The palace cat, must be able to be on ghe ground and move like a cat
Queen - Strikingly beautiful, but vain and wicked
Walking, Talking Magic Mirror - can be a boy or girl, talks only to the Queen
Princess Snow White - Beautiful but unloved by her Step Mother
Prince Robert - The handsome Prince
Huntsman - fearsome looking fellow, a nice guy who is conflicted by threats of Queen
Enchanted Vixen - a lady fox, must noe be afraid to be on the ground and move like a fox
Esmeralda - the queen, disguised as a young girl
Crone - the queen in disguise again
7 Dwarfs
- Sarge - the leader of the dwarves
- Gabby - always talking, should be able to adlib lines (within constraints)
- Gloomy Gus - always uncomfortable, grumpy, mood
- Ticklish - giggles whenever something touches him
- Spritely - dances at every opportunity, prefers it to walking
- Snore - yawns constatntly
- Slowpoke - always brings up the rear, even his actions are delayed
Rehearsals will begin around June 19 or 20th. The plan is to work three (3) mornings a week, from approximately 9 - 12, specific days to be decided.

All characters sing and move pretty well. Rehearsals will be held on Monday, Wednesday & Fridays from 9 AM - Noon beginning July 1.
